History may not always repeat itself – or does so in the form of a farce, as Marx said – but even if the Congress under Sonia Gandhi is not what the Congress was under Indira Gandhi, the BJP also is not as much of a victor as it was a year ago, as its massive defeats in Delhi and Bihar have shown.

Congress intends to intensify its “communal and divisive forces” charges against the BJP by launching Mr Gandhi as a champion of communal harmony in his first public appearance in the run-up to the assembly election due next year. Why should the Congress party and its leaders not contest the notice before the court?
Rahul, who will lead a 7km communal harmony walk from the 16th century Vaishanivite culture seat at Barpeta Satra in the Muslim-dominated district on Saturday, sent a hard hitting message to the rivals in his address to party members saying, “Assam is a land of communal harmony and communal and divisive forces should not be allowed to have any foothold here”. The PCC president and the chief minister will decide what happens in Assam. He said that the program was aimed at empowering Assamese women. The Congress is, therefore, crying foul and calling it political vendetta”, he said asking if the charge was against the courts. “But, they are unaware that here a revolution for development has already started, quietly and peacefully”.
“It is being driven by the Prime Minister’s office”, he claimed while responding to reporters’ questions whether the National Herald case was an outcome of vendetta politics. “Congress should reply to it”, Gadkari said. “Every where Modi goes he makes promises and tongue lashes congress”. “In addition, all the schemes he has announced have actually been started during the UPA government”. The leader also had an interaction with the women representatives of Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Assam, listening to their problems and assuring them that their issues would be taken up with the government. And they continue to say they have full faith in the judiciary. A similar pattern can be seen in Rajasthan where a case was heaped upon Sachin Pilot and former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

He said, “This is court’s decision and neither Prime Minister’s office nor our government has said anything to court about the order”.
