A MAN FOUND dead in north county Louth has been named as Martin Mulligan.

His body was found around 200 to 300 meters away from his auto – a silver coloured Skoda Octavia with the registration number 07 LH 5599.
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or who may have been in Mr Mulligan’s taxi last night or were in the Carn More/Kilcurry area between 1am and 3.30am to contact Dundalk Garda Station on 042-9388400, the Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111 or any garda station.
At the scene today on a quiet link road from the R177, 4km from Dundalk, Mr Mulligan’s 2007 Louth registered beige Skoda Octavia taxi could be seen parked off the side of the road.
Members of the victim’s family also visited the scene earlier this morning.
A state pathologist was called to scene and a post-mortem examination is expected to take place later on Monday.
The surrounding area has been preserved for a technical examination and a post mortem will be carried out.
A Garda hunt was launched yesterday after father-of-two Martin Mulligan (53) was found on the road to Forkhill, around a mile south of the border. It is a right turn and it is just after the underpass of the motorway on that road, so we’re appealing to anyone who was in that area at that time.
His body remained there throughout most of the day, shielded by a blue Garda forensic tent, before being transferred to Our Lady of Lourdes in Drogheda.
Speaking about the incident Superintendent Gerry Curley described Mulligan as a hard-working family man.
The victim had lived in the Dundalk area all his life and his murder has sent shockwaves through the town, where his family is well-known and respected.
“We are satisfied it was a violent death”.

Detectives are appealing to the public for anybody who may have been picked by Mr Mulligan yesterday evening or late last night.
