Garnett To Get New Deal

The Star Tribune had a report previously saying Garnett’s two-year deal could be cut short by a year, in which case he would transition to a management role with the team. The Timberwolves averaged under 15,000 fans per game in the regular season past year.

Garnett will spend some time around the Wolves’ summer-league team, which begins play here in Vegas tonight at 7:30 pm Central time against the Lakers.

Wolves fans also came out to see Andrew Wiggins, the reigning rookie of the year, slam dunk champion Zach LaVine and rookie Tyus Jones, who is from the Minneapolis suburb of Apple Valley. Towns will face off against the second overall pick D’Angelo Russell when the Lakers play the Wolves Friday in the Las Vegas Summer League. Now, Jon Krawczynski is hearing the deal is worth a total of $16 million.

The Timberwolves acquired him in a February trade that sent Thaddeus Young to the Nets, and the franchise icon was given a thundering welcome by the adoring home crowd upon his return.

Towns was considered to be the top player in the draft this year and he was picked number one over Russell. Those players are all playing in the summer league and now Russell and Towns will get the chance to face off against each other on Friday night.
