Garoppolo hurt; Williams carted off after scary hit

Here are the most significant National Football League players who got banged up in Week 2: Jimmy Garoppolo, QB, New England Patriots:?Garoppolo had his right (throwing) shoulder rammed into the turf as he took a big hit from LB Kiko Alonso in the second quarter. I think he’ll be ready with his role and, like all of our players, we’re not that far away from playing anybody.

– Dolphins running back Arian Foster left the game in New England with a groin injury and was ruled out for the second half.

The Patriots are, at the moment, down to their third quarterback.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Brissett was the fifth quarterback selected in April’s draft, in the third round with the 91 overall pick. Jimmy Garoppolo is injured. The Patriots led 21-0 when he exited.

After rarely working with the first team during the preseason, Brissett is unlikely to have a great rapport with the likes of wide receivers Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola in an offense that’s already without tight end Rob Gronkowski, who’s nursing a hamstring injury.

While Brissett didn’t look out of place in his debut, Garoppolo was as close to being the missing Brady as anyone in the New England camp could have hoped for. That’s what New England is getting.

-Browns rookie defensive end Carl Nassib sustained a hand injury during the second half of Sunday’s game against the Ravens. “The second half of us being able to get up on the ball and go, get completions and run the ball, those types of things. that’s what we need to do in the first half”. Garoppolo completed 18 of 27 passes for 234 yards and three scores in 25 minutes of game action. Cam Newton threw for over 350 yards and four touchdowns in the win. New England’s second drive mirrored the first with Garoppolo finding Chris Hogan for gains of 19 and 24 yards. The Pittsburgh punter booted five of his eight punts inside the Bengals’ 20-yard line and averaged 47.1 yards-per-kick with a long of 58 in the Steelers’ 24-16 home win over Cincinnati.
