Garry Monk’s Swansea sacking really hurt, admits caretaker boss Alan Curtis

The report claims that persuading Giggs to leave Manchester United would be a challenge, but the idea of getting managerial experience under his belt to possibly prepare for a future job at Old Trafford could be appealing to the Welshman.

A couple of weeks ago, James Ducker wrote a story which detailed how disillusioned with Louis van Gaal was, nominally over the treatment of James Wilson, who went on loan to Brighton and then started scoring.

Jenkins also warned the players they are effectively playing for their futures, starting today at Manchester City, with the appointment of a replacement expected just before the January transfer window.

The 52-year-old reluctantly sacked boss Garry Monk in midweek after a run of just one win in 11 Premier League games.

“But I am sure he (Monk) is the same good manager as he was previous year”.

The Scot, who has been fired twice in less than two years, declared himself uninterested in being Swansea’s third manager in that same period following the sackings of Michael Laudrup and Garry Monk, adding that the latter should have been given more time.

Giggs also fits the Swansea mantra of hungry young boss with everything to prove, while the pass and move style of play he favours also fits the Swans blueprint.

Club legend Alan Curtis has been placed in caretaker charge and echoed Jenkins’ views by admitting those left at the Welsh club are fully aware of their role in Monk’s downfall.

Given the nature of the speculation, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was unsurprisingly asked whether Giggs was bound for a return back to South Wales but the Dutchman revealed that he himself was in the dark regarding the developments.

He said: “I think Raheem always works very well, from the first day to now”.

Giggs has been with United since he was 14-years-old and is the club’s all-time appearance holder, as well as its most decorated player.
