The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that Shandling, known for “The Larry Sanders Show” and “It’s Garry Shandling’s Show” on cable television, was transferred by ambulance to a hospital, where he died.

It starred Shandling as a satirically exaggerated version of himself hosting a fictional late-night TV talk show, drawing on his real-life experiences as a stand-up comic and regular guest host for NBC’s “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson”.
“Paramedics responded to a medical emergency and took Shandling to a hospital, where he died, according to Officer Aaeron Jefferson”.
The “How I Met Your Mother” star shared his memories of Shandling, who he said he loved and admired.

A Chicago native, Shandling broke into show business writing for shows such as “Welcome Back, Kotter” and “Sanford and Son”.
Garry was best known for being the pioneer behind faux talk shows and docudramas. He and Showtime would continue their partnership to launch his first comedy series, It’s Garry Shandling’s Show.
Larry Sanders, Shandling’s alter ego, might have been Jewish. The closest thing Larry had to friends were his chronically needy announcer Hank (Jeffrey Tambor) and his Napoleonic producer, Artie (Rip Torn).
An innovative HBO series, The Larry Sanders Show also featured celebrities playing parodies of themselves. The show centered on a late-night talk show, and the goings on, drama and egos behind the scenes.
His films included “Hurlyburly” in 1998, “What Planet Are You From?” in 2000 and “Zoolander” in 2001. Ricky Gervais called him “one of the most influential comedians of a generation”.
Earlier this week he appeared fine and posed for a pic with pals Kathy Griffin and Bob Odenkirk, which happens to be the last photo of him before his death.

Then, in January, Shandling appeared with his pal Jerry Seinfeld in an episode of the online comedy series, “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”.
