Gary Johnson optimistic about national debates
And it depends on Johnson – a former Republican governor of New Mexico who is polling in single digits nationally – jumping to 15 percent support in the next month. If Johnson receives 15% support in national polls, then he will be eligible to get into televised national debates, which he said in a town hall meeting with Fusion would give him the opportunity to win the election.

Johnson is expected to make the ballot in OH as an independent.
In an election rife with Never-Trumpers and Bernie Bros, the Libertarian presidential ticket traveled to Miami-Dade County Wednesday evening in search of disenfranchised voters and some badly needed media exposure, The Miami Herald reports. He’s polling just below 10 percent.
Eight years ago, far more supporters said their choice was more a vote for their candidate than said it was a vote against the opposing candidate.
There continues to be a sizable gender gap in vote preferences: Women favor Clinton over Trump by 19 percentage points (49% to 30%), while men back Trump by a 12-point margin (45% to 33%).
In a conversation with the Deseret News and KSL editorial boards Friday, the third-party candidates voiced confidence that their departure from politics as usual will appeal to voters in Utah and elsewhere, giving them a legitimate chance at winning the White House. I think maybe six weeks from now you’ll be talking about, is voting for Trump a wasted vote? And anybody that thinks otherwise is dreaming.
Clinton continues to earn more support among voters in her party (77%) than Trump does in his (69%), but support is down from last week in both parties.
Johnson blamed USA pursuit of regime change for fueling the rise of Islamic State terrorism.
During an interview with CNN Wednesday, Johnson said the presidential debate commission has five polls they’ll use to determine his participation.
“By no figment of the imagination are the two sides going to come together if either one of them are elected”, Johnson said. She said that if she doesn’t feel confident that Johnson will appoint conservative justices, she would vote for Trump. Weld, with Johnson’s apparent agreement, said Trump lacks the temperament to be president.
At FIU, Johnson told the audience that if he can get more exposure, voters will flock to his candidacy.

“Certainly, consider us as a very, very viable alternative to this two party system that has become so polarized that they have become unable to do anything”, said Gary Johnson, Libertarian Presidential Candidate. “It’s just that they don’t know it”.
