Gary Lineker caught up in weird ‘Zorro’ terror scare at LA Airport

“It’s nearly like a game of telephone, by the time people were hearing things, I think they heard it was an active shooter. that’s when chaos can break out”, Garcetti said on radio station KNX-AM (1070).

Police responded to 911 calls of shots fired at the airport but later said the reports were unfounded and there had been no gunfire or injuries.

As Lineker stated, a man in a Zorro costume waving a plastic sword was arrested and detained by police.

Reports of active shooter at LAX unconfirmed.

A JetBlue flight from LAX to Buffalo, the only non-stop flight between the two cities, landed on time at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport Monday morning and even though they were in another terminal, passengers on the flight still noticed some big problems Sunday night at LAX.

At the Los Angeles airport, the police action and a ground stop ordered by the Federal Aviation Administration caused airlines to divert 23 flights, including four global ones, to other airports. The facility handles almost 79 million passengers a year, which makes it the world’s seven-busiest airport by passenger traffic. Police search the area but they say they found nothing.

Officers with rifles stormed terminals but uncovered no evidence of a gunman or shots fired Sunday.

Passengers and employees began evacuating the airport by running onto the airfield, prompting officials to initiate a ground stop on the south runway shortly after 9 p.m., according to the news release.

“I’ve never seen passengers, just normal people, on the tarmac anywhere in the United States”, McDonald told KCAL9.

At approximately 9:07 p.m. PDT, the LAX Police Department tweeted that traffic had been closed due to “police activity”. Another 68 arriving flights were reported delayed.

The incident stirred chaos and left a mess as hundreds of people rushed from terminals on to sidewalks and the tarmac. The ground stop lasted only 20 minutes and was lifted by 10 p.m. PDT, CNN reported. Video captured officers with guns drawn surrounding the man as he sat outside Terminal 7.
