Gary Neville: ‘I’d add Schmeichel, Keane to Sir Alex Ferguson’s world-class list’
In the book, Leading, the 13-times victor of the Premier League stated that he believed only Eric Cantona, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Cristiano Ronaldo fit the “world class” bill.

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson should have included goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and Roy Keane in his list of world-class players that he managed.
“The one that stood out for me is Peter Schmeichel“, Neville said.
The former Manchester United boss was in conversation with fellow Scot, broadcaster Nicky Campbell, in front of a sell-out crowd at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow. If he wasn’t a world-class goalkeeper then I don’t know what was.
Of course, the headline-grabbing part of that pronouncement was the absence of Roy Keane from that list.
Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Japp Stam, who both shone during their time at United, did not make the cut on Ferguson’s list.
So was Roy Keane world class in other eyes other than Ferguson’s and is world class more a question of ability or achievement?
And United legend Gary Neville has weighed in on the argument by claiming that his former boss had left out two vital names, in his personal opinion.
Thirty-two trophies were shared between Keane and Schmeichel during their time at Old Trafford before leaving the club in 2005 and 1999 respectively.

David Beckham responded to his omission by saying he agreed with Ferguson that he was never world class, per BBC News.
