Gary Patterson on Trevone Boykin’s arrest: ‘Everybody makes decisions’
McManus said Boykin was being heckled about the game against Oregon. “I truly let down my family, teammates and the TCU and Fort Worth communities who have supported me so much”.

Boykin wrote Thursday that he had “no excuses for my very poor decision, and I’m embarrassed about it”. In a game that went two overtimes, the Horned Frogs came out on top thanks to an 8-yard connection from Tevone Boykin to KaVontae Turpin.
TCU head coach Gary Patterson talks during a news conference for the Alamo Bowl NCAA college football game, Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, in San Antonio. Boykin said he wished he could play, “but I won’t because of my mistake that I have no one to blame but myself”. I hop others can learn from my mistake. Meacham and his fellow co-coordinator, Sonny Cumbie, said they’re leaning toward starting senior Bram Kohlhausen over redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer against OR but have yet to make a final decision. The altercation occurred at the bar Pat O’Briens, located a mile away from the Alamodome where the Horned Frogs are scheduled to play OR in Saturday’s Alamo Bowl.
Police said that’s when Boykin became aggressive, and indiscriminately hit an officer. He was released later Thursday after posting bail but was suspended by TCU coach Gary Patterson from the Horned Frogs’ game against the Oregon Ducks. Boykin was accused of indiscriminately hitting a patrol officer around 1:52 a.m Thursday morning.
Boykin said his TCU degree meant more to him “than anything” and said he had full confidence in his teammates for Saturday’s game. He was formally charged with assaulting a public servant, resisting arrest and public intoxication. Then you’ll be drooling over this matchup, which features the third-ranked offense (TCU, at 564.3 yards per game) and sixth-ranked offense (Oregon, at 548.2 yards) in the country. Several officers tackled the player, who struggled until an officer threatened to use a stun gun on him. The senior finished his career as TCU’s leader in total yards (12,777), passing yards (10,728), passing touchdowns (86) and touchdowns responsible for (114).
