Gas Prices Drop 3.9 Cents In Chattanooga

Gas prices are 8.4 cents lower than they were last week in Allen County, according to prices reported by GasBuddy.com, and prices could continue to decline.

The average price of gasoline in the U.S.is up four cents over the past three weeks.

The price-tracking website’s daily survey of 731 gas outlets in Pittsburgh showed prices have edged down 1 cent a gallon in the last week.

In Hamilton, the average price for a gallon of gas is $2.22, with prices stable.

In the USA, nine states now are enjoying average prices under $2 per gallon: SC ($1.90 per gallon), Alabama ($1.94), MS ($1.96), Texas ($1.97) New Jersey ($1.98), Louisiana ($1.99), Tennessee ($1.99), Virginia ($1.99) and Oklahoma ($1.99).

That’s down about 4.1 cents from this time past year. Prices decreased by 1 cent in Avon, to $2.29 from $2.30; Leicester, to $2.24 from $2.25; Mount Morris, to $2.25 from $2.26; and Nunda, to $2.33 from $2.34.

The Palmetto State continues to offer the lowest gas prices in the nation, partially because of its low gas tax.

In the Charleston area, prices on Monday ranged from $1.75 in Goose Creek to $2.09 near Kiawah Island.

Refineries are also changing over to the cheaper “winter-blend” gasoline that should be rolled out next week, Laskoski said. That should bring prices down further as the summer driving season nears its end.
