The low gas prices have come to an end, GasBuddy said.

After months of declines, gas prices are finally going up. The average price is now $1.65.

OH price leader Speedway has pulled back a bit from its run-up to $1.89 at many stations throughout the state late last week and today is posting prices in a range from $1.69 to $1.85.

In a sign of how fresh the recent rebound in fuel prices are, just 14 states are seeing gas prices higher than a month ago, led by a 15 cent rise in Minnesota, a 14 cent rise in Oklahoma and 13 cent jump in Iowa.

The national average is up nearly 4-cents in the last week to $1.74 per gallon.

“If there’s some further strengthening in the price of crude, that could trickle into what you’re paying at the pump”, he said.

The top 16 largest weekly moves were all increases, led by Oklahoma (18.3 cents), Minnesota (17.5 cents), Iowa (17.2 cents), Kansas (16.9 cents) and Nebraska (16.8 cents). Prices in South Florida tend to be higher because of higher taxes. Saudi Arabia – a member of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries – and other production countries have agreed to freeze production levels.

The long slide in gasoline prices has ended in Lowndes County, at least for the time being.
