Gas prices rise again in Rhode Island to $2.79 per gallon

The relatively low prices prompted more Americans than ever to take road trips for the July Fourth holiday, AAA estimates.

In Ohio, the average was down across the board, to $2.705 per gallon on Monday morning, ranking 24th least expensive of the 50 states.

The US Energy Information predicted last month that average gasoline prices nationwide would decline for the rest of the year, averaging $2.43 per gallon in the second half of 2015.

The stations with the highest prices were just over $3, in Island Falls and Cumberland.

Fuel demand is likely to be a key factor in whether gas prices drop or increase this summer.

Prices are still lower than they were in Bimingham this time past year by 93.1-cents/gallon.

BOSTON – Gas prices are creeping upward in Massachusetts, now one cent higher than last week. That decline was the start of an eventual $1.65 per gallon drop through January. If this remains the highest average of the year, it would be the cheapest peak price since 2009.

While prices are down, oil production by OPEC and Russian Federation are near record high levels, Reuters reported. The statewide average in Missouri was $2.34 on Friday.

Pittsburgh drivers are still paying more than the national average of $2.77 per gallon of regular, according to GasBuddy.com, although the national average fell just 0.6 cents last week.
