Gasquet outlasts Wawrinka in 5th set to complete Wimbledon semis lineup
Djokovic s semi-final maybe slightly overshadowed by the titanic last four clash between seven-time champion Roger Federer and 2013 victor Andy Murray.

Richard Gasquet will face off against the French Open runner-up in the semifinals on Friday.
Defending champion Novak Djokovic is through the semi-finals.
The Hollywood hunk is no stranger to Wimbledon and past year he arrived with Suki Waterhouse and sat in the Royal Box.
An exhilirating final set was eventually taken by Gasquet 11-9 to move into the last four of the tournament. Showing his first real sign of nerves, Gasquet hit a rushed error followed by his first double fault of the day to face set point. The only time the Canadian had won back-to-back matches all season was back in January at the Australian Open.
Richard Gasquet came through a five-set thriller against Stan Wawrinka to reach his second Wimbledon semi-final on Wednesday.
The French Open champion stamped down his authority early in the third set, starting off with two aces.
“I think a lot of time these umpires, they seem to just want to be seen. I don’t know why they do it at a time like that”, Pospisil said. In the second, despite a worrying moment when he flexed his right shoulder, Wawrinka began to take command and when Gasquet needed to be strong – serving at 4-5 – he failed.
He does not wear a look of uninterrupted disgruntlement like Murray, who he will play on Friday; he does not do extended ball bounces and other time-wasting rituals like Nadal; and he does not grunt or shriek or curse or gesticulate like many of his counterparts in the modern game.
“Of course, anytime somebody gives you a violation, it’s going to have some kind of effect. I will look at some of the matches we’ve played before, before the semifinal”.
“I’m proud because there are big players in the semis. Pospisil was probably walking off the court going, ‘I don’t feel like I was blown off the court but I was routed in straight sets.’ That’s the genius of Murray“.
The Frasers both reached the singles semifinals and the doubles semifinals, with different partners.
A feat that had been beyond the skill-set of Ernests Gulbis, Florian Mayer, Ivo Karlovic, Andreas Seppi, Damir Dzumhur, Sam Querrey, Sam Groth and Roberto Bautista Agut, was pulled off by Simon in the second set of their quarter-final.
He was also 13-60 in his career after losing the first set, before the three comeback wins at the All-England Club. Federer is 9-0 at that stage in southwest London. Simon was making his Wimbledon quarterfinals debut.
The two are fairly evenly matched on paper, with Federer leading the head-to-head with a slight 12-11 advantage – including wins in their last three meetings. He was dismayed after being warned in mid-serve on a time violation, late in the seconds set as he dropped serve 5-6. Federer won 6-3, 7-5, 6-2.
Play at Wimbledon has restarted after a rain delay of about 30 minutes, with the Centre Court roof closed.
Canada’s Vasek Pospisil wipes sweat from his brow as he plays against Britain’s Andy Murray.
His only win came at the 2007 Masters Cup while he was crushed by the world No. 1 in the fourth round of the French Open last month, winning just six games in a straight-sets rout.
David Beckham and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, rooted for Murray on Center.
It’s King’s 55th appearance at Wimbledon. The rule for Grand Slams is 20 seconds but it is rarely enforced. With the victory, Gasquet has become the seventh Frenchman in the history of Wimbledon to make more than one semifinal at the All England Club, a historic achievement. But their chance at a third major title came to a close with a quarterfinal loss at Wimbledon. Next up for the Indo-Swiss pairing is the American combine of Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears.
In the semifinals, Becker beat Agassi, and Sampras beat Ivanisevic.
Two of those players will be at Centre Court as coaches on Wednesday.

As with all the individual head-to-heads among the “big four” men, you could write a book about their previous meetings.
