Gatlin Wins 100M Silver; Watson Ties For Eighth In Golf

He already has the Rio 2016 title in 100m in the bag following his 9.81 seconds win in Sunday’s final and is now focused on his preferred event, the 200m.

He donates frequently to children’s charities, and the Usain Bolt Foundation is “dedicated to the legacy for happy children”, helping them live their dreams.

But, after three Olympics and three gold medals (he won the most recent just last night), the world is finding that Bolt’s actions are more happy-go-lucky than in-your-face.

Bolt, the 100m (9.58) and 200m (19.19) world record holder, had posted only two sub-10 timings this year – 9.98 in May and 9.88 in June – but delivered when it mattered.

“I personally think if we got more time we’d be definitely faster”, Bolt said. “I’ve learned to move on from things that I really don’t understand or things that don’t turn out the way I wanted”.

Sharpe’s biggest concern was De Grasse getting a good start to the race, since he’s not known for being fast off the blocks. “I’d really like to compete against him over 300m”, said Bolt. “It’s in the sun, it’s early morning”, Bolt told NBC afterward, adding with a smile, “I’m not a morning person”. “So for me, it’s good on all fronts”.

For Bolt, he’s accomplished an unprecedented feat in winning his third consecutive gold medal in the 100m, now with seven Olympic gold medals. He briefly put his hands together, as if in thanks. Even Sebastian Coe, the president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, the sport’s governing body, has said the idea of Gatlin winning championships makes him uncomfortable given Gatlin’s past doping offences.

“I would say no, right now”, says Jamaican journalist Zahra Burton, an avid track and field fan who’s based in Kingston.

Gatlin said he had also recovered from Sunday’s 100m final. “I came to prove I’m one of the greats”, Bolt said, according to India Today. “We all want to come together like a brotherhood”.

When American silver-medal victor Justin Gatlin complained about the quick turnaround he was largely ignored.

The Canadian is a fierce competitor and has terrific closing speed, as evidenced by his 200 metres at the Pan American Games, where, running blind out of Lane 8, he was well behind the leaders through 170 metres, but found another gear to win gold in a Canadian-record time.

When the all the heats were over, Bolt had only recorded the 15th-fastest time of 77 sprinters who lined up. “This is my weakest event so it’s a relief to get it done”.

“I got introduced to him later on and told him I could help him”.

“I owe a lot of that to my friends keeping my morale up”.
