Using the traditional measure of five GCSEs at A* to C shows results have remained on a par with 47% of students achieving this and 63% of students achieving grade C or above in English and maths.

Pupils performed better than expected, achieving 20 per cent higher than was predicted in terms of A* to C grades across all subjects.
Improvements in languages and maths were among the good news as pupils in Wrexham collected their GCSE results.

Just under 90 per cent of students attained five GCSE’s at A* to C grades.

Sunderland students have bucked the national trend with a slight increase in the percentage of pupils achieving A* to C grades.
Head teacher, Alison Gormally said: “I am incredibly proud to be head teacher of a school which has achieved so much success for its students. I have no idea what I;d eventually like to do, but I;ll be studying maths, French, Spanish and theology at sixth form in September”.
The grammar school, in High Road, Goodmayes, was the top performing independent school in Redbridge past year, and continued its exam success this time around.
Ross will now study maths, business, geography and PE at the school’s sixth form.

And the two schools celebrated in style today; students at Churchill Community College, enjoyed an Alice in Wonderland-themed GCSE party and an Oscar-style event was thrown at Norham High School.
