Some 57 per cent of students in South Gloucestershire have achieved 5 GCSE A*-C grades including English and mathematics – an improvement of around four per cent from 2015.

Wilfred Jenkins, who also studies at RGS, was celebrating his 10 A*s and one A. “I am very grateful to the hard work of all the teaching staff at Felsted, the support of the parents, and most importantly the commitment of the pupils themselves in achieving these impressive results”.

“Our students have worked extremely hard and have been rightly rewarded for their efforts”.

Phil Loftus, headteacher, said: “Last year’s achievements were brilliant and to go beyond expectations this year is incredible”.

Big brother and father were with Nihaal when the teenager said: “I’m very pleased with my grades after what was a very tense time waiting for the results, especially on Thursday morning when we were on the way to school. We are proud of every one of them”.

” 60% achieved A*-C grades in English and maths previous year and this has risen to 63% this summer”.

She said: “I am really shocked, just really, really happy”.

She added: “It doesn’t get any easier”. Thanks are due to the teachers, parents and carers whose support lies behind these achievements. Among the many success stories are Eleanor Cleave, who attained 11 GCSEs grade A*-B.

At Tottington High School, 58 per cent of children got at least five GCSEs at C or above, including English and maths.

Headmaster Ed Hester said he was delighted with the excellent results.

“Our students have been excellent all year in their approach and dedication to their studies. My honest thanks go to our staff, governors and the students’ families for all the help, support and encouragement they have given over many years”. “Once again, we are looking forward to seeing the majority of the Year 11 students back in school in the sixth form where we know they will do well in the future”.
