Headmistress Michele Anderson was “very pleased” with the students as 97 per cent of them achieved at least five A* to C grades, and 20 per cent of all grades achieved were A*s.
Outstanding individual performances included Xander Veitch, Charles Powell and Cassandra McCormack, who between them achieved twenty-four A* and six A grades.
Many students exceeded their expectations and the school is very proud of the good progress of students of all abilities.
“Congratulations once again to all our year 11 students”.
A fifth of the girls achieved 8 A* grades or higher with one girl gaining 13 A* grades and seven girls achieving 11* or more A* grades.
When these two core subjects are combined, 76 per cent were awarded a grade C or better in both English and maths.
He said: “Our GCSE students have excelled themselves this year, making more progress during their time at Tewkesbury School than their predecessors”.
“I didn’t think I’d do this well, but I did do a fair bit of work at home so I’m glad it’s paid off”, he said. They have not only secured a better future for themselves but they have made a notable and positive contribution to the school’s history.
They are a reflection of their commitment, as well as the dedication of the staff at the school, who have worked with them.
“I am going to Gateshead College to do Social Media Design and Digital Journalism to get into PR”, he said.
