It’s worth noting that all Xbox Live Games with Gold titles since November are backward compatible, so if you’re playing on Xbox One that means games available to play without having to haul out your old console. If you don’t already own this game, it’s one of Microsoft’s modern classics, delivering some top-notch cover based shooting action.

Styx: Master of Shadows will be available from February 16 to March 15, with Gears of War 2 being available from February 16 – February 29. With three-player cooperative combat, plenty of loot to collect, tons of enemies to take down, and four different characters to master, you get plenty of content to keep you hammering away with your friends for hours on end. Draw your cards, play your hand, and discover your fate. That would be ‘Hand of Fate’ (review here), which combines roguelike exploration, deck-building and 3D combat into a great package. Guide the goblin assassin Styx through the vertical and multi-layered Tower of Akenash, home to the World Tree, source of the Amber – a powerful and magical golden sap – prowling through the shadows with aide of a host of special abilities refined throughout Styx’s 200 years of history. This month’s haul is a decent one, nothing spectacular but free games are free games, right? This will then be switched out for Gears of War 2 which was one of our favourite games in the Gears series. Also available will be Sacred Citadel, a brawler set in the fantasy universe of the Sacred RPG franchise.
