The new recall will affect a few other models including the Toyota Corolla, Matrix and Lexus SC 430 all made between 2003-2007 as well as the Tundra from 2005 – 2006 and the Sequoia from 2005-2007.

Now it says it will replace the passenger airbags in all the cars with those problem airbags. The most recent recall is to replace passenger’s side airbags as well. However, not only Toyota and Nissan have been recalling the vehicles, Honda has been the biggest victim of the recalls of vehicle with defective air bags.

The company said Friday that the expanded recall for passenger air bags covers the Pontiac Vibe from 2003 through 2007. Since then, automakers who’ve used the airbags have been expanding their recalls rosters and notifying owners from coast to coast about the changes.

Owners can find out if their auto is part of the giant recall by going to https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin/ and keying in their vehicle identification number. The same free fix – replacement of the passenger front airbag inflator – will be completed under the new national action.

“An informed consumer is one of our strongest allies in ensuring recalled vehicles are repaired”, said US Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx.

So far Honda has recalled about 21 million vehicles across the globe because of the potentially defective inflators.

Toyota is the 10th – and last – major automaker to address NHTSA’s May 19 announcement. However, after US safety regulators insisted that the models be included in the nationwide recall, Honda complied.
