Maybe Tennessee thumps Virginia Tech regardless.

As expected, the game was played in front of a record 156,990 people.

Quarterback Joshua Dobbs put his name in the Vols record book, as he became the leading yard producer on the ground for UT quarterbacks.

When World War II ended in Europe, two U.S. Army units played an American football game at Strahov Stadium in Prague.

“The event, in its entirety, was a handsome setting in a lovely facility”, Virginia Tech Justin Fuente said.

Down 14-0 in the first quarter, Dobbs and Co. started putting points on the board. But the venue was much smaller then, and the crowd totaled only about 10,000.

Alex Gardner rushed for 109 yards and scored on a four-yard run in the second quarter for the Panthers (0-2).

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Had it been a NASCAR race, Tennessee would have spent the early portions on pit row in its 45-24 victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday night. Previously, the largest college football game to date was 2013’s MI vs. Notre Dame matchup, which hosted 115,109 fans. University of Tennessee Head Coach Butch Jones has said a fast start is big priority. “I think the reality hit our players when we came here yesterday for the walk through with all the campers and trailers again this is truly a special evening that we’ll remember for a lifetime”. The Hokies would jump out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Volunteers would storm back, scoring 31 unanswered midway through the third quarter. He also threw for 91 yards and three more scores on 10-of-19 accuracy.

“Just pleased the way we came out and played”, Durkin said.

“We watched on film (FIU cornerbacks) were going to play soft often so that was something we were going to attack”, Moore said.

“How mentally tough as a unit we are when we go through ball security drills that we do day in and day out”.

Tennessee’s Micah Abernathy set a school single-game record with three fumble recoveries.

The Volunteers forced six turnovers in the game and the Hokies just could not seem to recover from their first fumble.

So a 45-24 win fixes all the ails us, right?! Rawleigh Williams III led all rushers with 28 carries for 137 yards.

Tennessee added another score in the third quarter on a 23-yard scoring toss from Dobbs to Alvin Kamara, one possession after Medley missed on a 47-yard field goal attempt. They reeled off 24 straight points in the second quarter to lead 24-14 at the half.

Virginia Tech: The Hokies simply must do a better job of protecting the football. Best of luck to all Virginia Tech Hokies fans, especially to those saints. His 100-yard performance marked the fourth of his career.
