George Clooney slams ‘obscene’ sums of money in USA political campaigning
George Clooney on Sunday admitted that the amount of money he’s raised for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is “obscene”. Tickets for a seat at the dinner’s head table – next to the hosts and Clinton – were priced at $353,400, according to NBC.

“I think it’s an obscene amount of money”.
LOS ANGELES-Even though both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders weren’t in NY over the past 48 hours-travelling or campaigning elsewhere instead-the high tensions in the Democratic race haven’t eased as Tuesday’s primary in the Empire State nears.
Sanders ripped into Bill Clinton on Twitter later Friday, tweeting, “We should be encouraging young people to get involved in politics, not disparaging them”.
If Congress were to pass a $15 federal minimum wage, “of course I’d sign it”, said Clinton. “We raised seven million individual campaign contributions, more than any other candidate in American history at this point, averaging 27 dollars”, the Vermont senator told CBS’ Face the Nation.
Sanders’ backtracking toward this last statement makes his argument weak, and his candidacy hypocritical.
Sanders was also asked if he feels Clooney is “backing the wrong horse”.
“The best way to get money out of politics is to elect Hillary Clinton”, said Andy Spahn, an organizer of the event whose consultancy firm represents some of the evening’s co-hosts, including Katzenberg and Spielberg.
The senator pledged to release his most recent tax returns today, and said there would be “no big money from speeches, no major investments” in the disclosures.
“The overwhelming amount of the money that we’re raising, is not going to Hillary to run for President, it’s going to the down-ticket”, he said.
Their debate within the debate over raising the minimum wage came down to $3 on ABC’s This Week. “I think Citizens United is one of the worst laws passed since I’ve been around”.
Clooney praised Clinton, noting that he had worked with her when she was Secretary of State on his signature cause, that of the crisis in Sudan.
Bernie Sanders’ campaign and supporters will be ready.
“I love Joe, and no one is suggesting that the Pope was embracing my policies”, he said.

“For people who are sort of in the Democratic establishment to disparage those young people, their sincerity and their knowledge, really is not a very smart strategy to try and build the Democratic Party”, Weaver said.
