George Lucas apologises for Disney ‘white slavers’ slam
When it came to Disney, Lucas had a rather loaded phrase to describe the company he sold Star Wars to for $4 billion in 2012, as transcribed by the Hollywood Reporter.

The term is more ironic after Disney made a point of having more diverse leads for The Force Awakens. “I don’t like that”, Lucas said, likening the sale to a painful break-up and complaining that the franchise had become too commercial.
Lucas apologized for the “very inappropriate analogy” he used in comparing Disney to “white slavers”, a statement he made during a lengthy interview with CBS newsman Charlie Rose. “Every movie, I worked very hard to make them different, make them completely different with different planets, different spaceships, to make it new”.
In the statement, Lucas said Disney is moving the franchise in exciting directions.
Legendary filmmaker George Lucas has admitted his age stopped him from writing and directing more “Star Wars” films.
JJ Abrams has apparently muttered to his pals that the script for “Star Wars Episode VIII” is so good… he regrets departing his post.
In a statement issued to Variety, he said: “I want to clarify my interview on the Charlie Rose Show”.
But Lucas told Rose that he didn’t much care for the movie.
He added, trailing off: “I sold them to the white slavers that take these things and…” “And so I said, ‘OK, I will go my way, and I’ll let them go their way'”.
“I have been working with Disney for 40 years and chose them as the custodians of Star Wars because of my great respect for the company and Bob Iger’s leadership”, Lucas said.
You nearly feel bad for George Lucas: He has to sit back and watch Disney take over his beloved franchise and crank out the biggest movie in the world right now.

Lucas discussed his decision to stay out of the new installments in the hour-long interview with Rose and had criticized Disney’s retro, fan-centric approach to “The Force Awakens”.
