Walt Disney Co, which took over “Star Wars” with its 2012 purchase of Lucasfilm, scrapped the typical Hollywood practice of screening the movie for reporters before they speak with the cast.
What is known is that “Force Awakens” is set 30 years after “Return of the Jedi”.
“Unfortunately, I don’t want to look my age”.
Abrams said the character was purposely left off to keep key parts of the story under wraps.
The featurette focuses on Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey, who is ostensibly the lead character of the film. Creator George Lucas was quoted as saying some 15 years ago that The Force embodies “a concept of religion based on the premise that there is a God and there is good and evil”. But there’s something a bit odd about a drive for “Star Wars” to fulfill its potential that ignores the female fans and female characters who have always been there and the very real ways in which “Star Wars” has historically been influenced by genres that are oriented toward women. This past weekend, I had the incredible pleasure of sitting down one-on-one with Harrison Ford to talk about his role in the next chapter of the Star Wars saga, and it was during our conversation that I asked about discovering a balance in the movie between who Han Solo was and who he is now. And even if the Rebellion lacks a political program, Han and Luke’s growing investment in the movement, facilitated by Princess Leia, makes us see its value, if only as an agent of their personal growth. And to do that would never work, so I said “I’m going to get divorced”… Glimpses of them on Rey’s home planet, Jakku, have been seen in trailers released by Disney.
According to Boyega, audiences will be glad they did not know more in advance.

But the star of the original Star Wars trilogy and the upcoming The Force Awakens didn’t appear in person.
