George Miller Not Directing Man of Steel 2

Now word comes directly from the director of Mad Max: Fury Road that he isn’t directing Man of Steel 2, but George Miller does confirm talks with DC. This statement completely rules out the possibility of Miller helming a Superman movie any time soon.

After the box office success of Mad Max: Fury Road, which earned $153 million domestic and $374.7 million worldwide, many fans are curious about what director George Miller will do next.

Despite recent waffling about whether Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is or is not a direct sequel to Man of Steel (we tend to vote “not” since Snyder has confirmed the Dark Knight is the focus), fans have remained hopeful that Superman would get a solo movie again. It went indecisive. There was a writers strike. I work in mythology and superheroes are basically new incarnations of Greek and Roman mythology, so there’s always something of interest there. “I grew up in an era that was mainly DC”. Interestingly, technology has moved so fast that legislation meant he wasn’t allowed to use drones during the shooting of the movie because of insurance issues – he had to be clever with the way he used them. “I’ve seen a few of them. I love [Zack Snyder’s] work”.

“I hope the next film I make is a very small film without any special effects and not many stunts”, Miller said, prefering to do a less blockbuster-esque film than Fury Road.
