George P. Bush, Jeb’s son, urges Republicans to back Trump

But while Republicans debate whether Trump is worth unifying around, one Bush family member is openly supporting the cause.

“From Team Bush, it’s a bitter pill to swallow”. The Texas Tribune reports the video of Bush’s remarks was taken Saturday at meeting for state party activists. Former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush – George P. Bush’s grandfather and uncle, respectively – both skipped the Republican convention in Cleveland last month.

At least until Saturday, Bush had been one of the most prominent elected officials in Texas withholding his support for Trump.

George P.is the land commissioner for Texas and is also serving as the state GOP’s victory chairman whose responsibility is overseeing the party’s statewide campaign in November.

Donald Trump had some battles with Jeb during the primary.

Former candidate John Kasich has refused to back Trump since he dropped out of the presidential race – even after the Trump campaign tried to entice the OH governor with the VP slot.

CNN has reached out to George P. Bush for comment. The younger George Bush, who has part Hispanic and, unlike his more famous family members, is at the beginning of his political career, does not have that luxury.

“There isn’t going to be a wall built”, he said in an interview.

Months after dropping out of the race, Jeb Bush remains firmly against a Donald Trump presidency.

“I mean, unbelievable. I don’t know how women can vote for someone who said what he said about Megyn Kelly, it’s awful”, she said. “And Mexico’s not going to pay for it”.

Bush’s move comes as a break from the father-and-son relationship with Jeb Bush as well since Bush ran for the GOP nomination just this year.

A longtime Jeb Bush adviser, Sally Bradshaw, last week said she had become an independent, adding if the presidential race in Florida is close, she’ll vote for Hillary Clinton. I can’t tell them to love their neighbor and treat others the way they want to be treated, and then vote for Donald Trump.
