George RR Martin Gives A Very Disappointing Game Of Thrones Update
And that nearly certainly means that no, THE WINDS OF WINTER will not be published before the sixth season of GAME OF THRONES premieres in April (mid April, we are now told, not early April, but those two weeks will not save me). Thrones is one of the most watched shows on television and fans are desperate to know what happens next.

After a lengthy explanation of his historical problems with deadlines, and a series of personal events – such as his son’s wedding -which delayed his writing process, Martin concluded: “I am going back to my stance from last March, before all this”. He said: “Some of the “spoilers” you may encounter in season six may not be spoilers at all… because the show and the books have diverged, and will continue to do so”.
Talking about the completion of “Winds of Winter” and its subsequent release, Martin continued to use his favourite line “It will be done when it’s done”. His numerous travel plans take him away from writing, adding that he is not able to write when on the road. Thanks to the very supportive fanbase surrounding the books and movies, Martin has the opportunity to travel the world and it’s one he’s not going to pass on.
George RR Martin, the main man behind the bestselling “A Song of Ice and Fire” series that gave birth to the mega-successful award-winning fantasy HBO series “Game of Thrones”, has earned the reputation of being a slow writer.
“The Winds of Winter is not finished”, the 67-year-old author penned on his blog Saturday. The genius author behind Game of Thrones and the A Song of Ice And Fire (ASOIAF) series sent out a heartfelt apology on his Not A Bog today from his home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
And as spring turned to summer, I was having more bad days than good ones. In fact, Martin warned it could be several more months before he’s able to deliver the novel.
He explained: ‘Because the books and the show are so popular, I have interviews to do constantly. He has assistants that make sure people are not bothering him so he can get the job done because everyone is now bothering him to finish the anticipated book. If the show premiered before the book, it would obviously spoil what was happening in the sixth novel. It is definitely not a thing to look at if you haven’t caught up on the series in either format, which Martin warns before the close of the post. “Those pretty little butterflies have grown into mighty dragons”.

Martin went on to say that even he didn’t know when it would be completed.
