Davis fell on it at Auburn’s 17 and Marshall Morgan made it a two-score game with a 38-yard field goal after the offense went backward.

Unless you can lure Nick Saban out of Alabama, persuade Urban Meyer to flee in the middle of the night from Columbus, OH and live out his coaching days in Athens, or throw enough money at a high-profile National Football League coach like Chip Kelly to get him to coach the Bulldogs, I’m not entirely sure who would be better than Richt. Why Georgia Will Win Bulldogs, get that run defense ready to rock.

McKenzie totaled four carries for 26 rushing yards and caught two passes for 15 receiving yards. Auburn reinserted Johnson at quarterback when the lead had grown to 20-10, and he then promptly led the Tiger offense beyond midfield for the first time in the second half.

Georgia returns to action next Saturday hosting Georgia Southern at 7 p.m. ET at Sanford Stadium. When Georgia and Auburn kickoff on Saturday they will be playing for much more than a victory, they will be playing for the lead in the all-time series. The Tigers’ defense only allowed one touchdown, a season-low 243 yards of total offense and made an impressive goal line stand in the second quarter. Auburn Tigers rank at 82 for scoring 27.3 points where as Georgia Bulldogs rank at 28 for allowing 20.4 scores.

That’s not a word that describes most of this Georgia season.

Georgia’s Isaiah McKenzie returns a punt for a touchdown against…

Georgia quarterback Greyson Lambert completed 12 of 17 passes for 97 yards. “That’s college football”, White said.

NOTE: Auburn freshman cornerback Jeremiah Dinson is out for the season.

“Obviously in the second half, we didn’t get it done”, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said. For the first time this season, Jovon Robinson and Peyton Barber looked like they might get going at the same time, but the quarterback situation prevented that from happening. He had 94 all-purpose yards and 2 touchdowns on the day. Then, Auburn drove to the Georgia 2, but Ricardo Louis coughed it up at the 1. Midway through the fourth quarter, outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins sacked Auburn quarterback Sean White, who fumbled the ball.

Defensive lineman Sterling Bailey was on the field when that play happened. It was the first returnable punt for Georgia, which gave McKenzie, nicknamed “The Human Joystick”, plenty of room for a big play.

The Auburn Tigers (5-4) will host the Georgia Bulldogs (6-3) on Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

The Tigers managed only two Daniel Carlson field goals after their opening drive, the second coming with 1:14 left to play when the Bulldogs kept Auburn from the end zone. “I wish I could have played better for my team”, he said.
