Georgia defeats ghosts of old, Spurrier and the Gamecocks

That play was replicated nearly exactly on Georgia’s next drive, with another impressive juke for an 11-yard receiving touchdown.

On the season, South Carolina averages 181.0 yards in passing and 224.5 yards in rushing.

How to watch South Carolina vs Georgia Live? After watching Missouri slosh through an incredibly ugly 9-6 win over UConn, it’s clear that the East is Georgia’s to lose.

Everyone loves a good “What if?” scenario, and on Tuesday Nick Chubb offered up some insight into his recruitment and how he never got to meet Steve Spurrier despite taking two recruiting visits to South Carolina.

“Yeah, they totally dominated us tonight”, USC head coach Steve Spurrier said.

Orth, who also played at Episcopal, had spent some time at one of South Carolina’s summer camps, however, and he decided he would try the walk-on route.

Nick Chubb: He might not be quite as explosive as his predecessor, Todd Gurley, but Chubb is a power tailback who consistently gains first downs for Georgia. Georgia is one of the favorites to win the SEC and contend for a playoff spot.

1st Quarter: That kick was made by Marshall Morgan for Georgia.

– Georgia averaged 13.2 yards per pass. South Carolina 3.7. Saturday, September 19, 2015, in Athens, Ga.

Having said that, there’s a certain poetic justice to the Head Ball Coach getting 52 hung on him in perhaps his last trip to Athens.

There will be plenty of attention on quarterback play when seventh-ranked Georgia hosts South Carolina on Saturday, but at least the Bulldogs have their starter still on the field as the two face off for the 6 p.m. kickoff at Sanford Stadium today.

“I can’t believe he threw an incompletion”, Richt quipped. The Gamecocks O-line will make sure Jenkins and Floyd are accounted for on every play. Pharoh has certainly been open the most and we’ve been fortunate to get it to him. Lambert looked shaky in last week’s 31-14 victory over Vanderbilt, rekindling worries among the Bulldog faithful that the team lacks a quarterback capable of leading it to a championship.

Talk about silencing the critics. He ran for 51 yards and a 21-yard TD on eight carries, and caught three passes for 32 yards and two scores, a pair of 11-yarders from Lambert in the third quarter.

“When I got the script, I was excited”, Lambert said. “Somebody came and said I did this stat, that stat. I’ve not been able to think that much about it. But it definitely feels good to have a game like this”. Orth waited and learned behind Connor Shaw in 2013 and Dylan Thompson in 2014, both on National Football League rosters, comfortable playing on the scout team or standing on the sidelines watching others perform.

After two so-so performances to start the season, Greyson Lambert likely solidified his hold on Georgia’s starting quarterback job in Saturday’s 52-20 win over South Carolina. Prior to Saturday’s 32-point loss, the worst loss to Georgia by a Spurrier-coached South Carolina team was an 18-0 defeat in 2006.

Lambert posted the highest percentage (96.0) in FBS history for a minimum of 20 completions, breaking the mark of 95.8 (23 of 24) shared by Tennessee’s Tee Martin and West Virginia’s Geno Smith.

Lambert also set another Georgia record when he completed his final 20 consecutive attempts. The Bulldogs’ 647 total yards set a school record.

Not even Spurrier could do anything about this one. Wild said that he wants the ball more and Spurrier does not have a problem with Wilds asking for more carries.

Georgia running back Nick Chubb has established himself as an early Heisman contender. He'll look to continue running over defenders against South Carolina on Saturday
