Georgia elementary student accidentally shoots classmate
The incident took place at Hornsby Elementary School in Augusta, Georgia.

A student at W.S. Hornsby School in Georgia was grazed by a bullet and another student is in custody for accidentally firing the weapon that is came from, officials told WAGT-TV.
Officials say a male student had a gun in his desk and was reportedly playing with the gun when it went off and struck a female student in the side. The Board of Education Police as well as the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office were represented at the press conference, held at the Board of Education building in Augusta.
Butler said the student’s parents have been notified and the student that brought the gun to school is in custody.
The BoE Police also confirmed that calls were made to parents after the scene was secured, the weapon secured and students were checked out. She was taken to a local hospital but is expected to fully recover.
The school was on lock down after the shooting happened.
