Georgia elementary student shot, school locked down
Reports don’t specify the age of the children but it happened at Hornsby Elementary, a K-8 school in Augusta.

The student who brought the gun to school is in police custody, said Israel Butler, spokesman for Richmond County schools.
While playing with the gun inside a desk, a student accidentally discharged the weapon and another student was struck.
No other students were injured.
We confirmed the shooting Tuesday morning after receiving reports of a shooting at the school.
The names of the students involved have not been released.

The student who brought the weapon is now in custody. She was taken to a local hospital but is expected to fully recover.
