Georgia indictment links 2 rappers to gunshots fired into Lil Wayne’s tour

The incident allegedly stems from Wayne’s attempt to leave Cash Money for lack of payments. That’s what the indictment seems to suggest. The business dispute has made headlines in recent months since it delayed the release of Lil Wayne’s album, Tha Carter V. It was later changed to Barter 6 (a nod to the Blood custom of changing Cs to Bs).

Mentioned in the indictment were two performers: Jeffery Lamar Williams, 22, better known as Young Thug, and Bryan Williams, a.k.a. Birdman.

Young Thug’s tour manager, Jimmy Carlton Winfrey, had been identified as the gunman in Atlanta on 26 April. According to the indictment, Winfrey was driving the vehicle involved in the shooting. They tried to detain him, but he fled before they could. Lil Wayne owns a portion of the record label.

The indictment says Young Thug sided with Birdman in the contract dispute.

“That’s when the white sports auto pulled beside the buses, shots were then fired into the buses from the sports auto with a. 40 caliber handgun and a 9mm handgun”. Birdman is one of the co-founders of the record label. Winfrey hid the Camaro and headed to Miami-but he also had posted a picture of the auto on Instagram, which he tried to delete. “Prosectors cite #YoungThug music video for #HalfTime showing Winfrey with assault rifle, lyrics about #LilWayne as evidence”.

Winfrey, who also goes by the names “Pee Wee” and “Roscoe”, is charged with aggravated assault, terroristic threats and acts, criminal damage, possession of a firearm by a felon, criminal gang activity, reckless conduct and discharging a weapon near the street as a result of the tour bus shooting, in which he caused $20,000 worth of damage.

Mike Petchenik of WSB-TV Atlanta offered details on the indictment via Twitter that include the video for Thug’s “Halftime” being used as evidence.
