Authorities say the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force were at the location to serve a felony arrest warrant for Robinson for criminal attempt to commit arson and aggravated assault on a police officer.

In a story August 5 about a criminal suspect being killed in a shootout with US marshals in Georgia, The Associated Press erroneously identified a witness as a resident of the apartment complex where the shooting occurred.
This photo shows Camp Creek apartment complex in East Point, Georgia, where United States police officers shot and killed 26-year-old Jamarion Rashad Robinson on August 5, 2016. At the time, following the shootout last week, police had said that they thought the suspect was possibly mentally ill.
The dead man has been identified as Jamarion Rashad Robinson, 26, Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman Scott Dutton said in a statement.
Authorities said they will perform an autopsy.
Lance McFalls, a foreman at the apartment complex, recorded the incident on Facebook live and said about 20 unmarked police were at the apartment complex, Channel 2 reported.
Robinson’s grandmother Beverly Nixon disputed claims that her grandson was involved in the police shooting in Atlanta, but said he was bipolar and schizophrenic.
“It wasn’t just a one-sided shootout”, McFalls said. During the interview, he said that he heard shots being fired and mentioned that the gunfire lasted for longer than a minute. Police in return shot and killed him. In the July 28 incident, police said Robinson pointed a gun at a maintenance man and cornered a mother and her child in the laundry room.
Once the GBI completes its investigation, it will turn the results over the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities weren’t forthcoming with details as to why they responded to the apartment Friday afternoon, around 4 p.m., but said they’d release more information Saturday afternoon. Still, she said “That doesn’t make impact of bullet any less powerful”.
