Georgia: Nick Chubb may avoid surgery

The Volunteers also have experienced the other side of comebacks. But Dobbs and the Vols maintained confidence despite the three-touchdown Georgia lead.

“You always need to win”, Tennessee head coach Butch Jones said.

Getting over all of those humps, along with the hump of struggling in close games, has to be a huge plus for the mentality of this young but talented football team going into the bye week. They just do it a lot better now.

University of Georgia sophomore tailback Nick Chubb suffered a significant left knee injury on the first play from scrimmage in Saturday’s Georgia-Tennessee game in Knoxville.

After suffering what appeared to a horrific leg injury during the first play of Saturday’s game, coach Mark Richt seemed to indicate Chubb may have avoided a potentially devastating injury, saying, “I’m optimistic it won’t require surgery”.

They drove to the Vols’ 27, each yard raising the blood pressure of everyone adorned in oragae, where on second down – with 0:06 ticks left – Lambert threw a pass toward Malcolm Mitchell at the right-front end zone cone.

Dobbs was 25 of 42 with three touchdown passes for Tennessee.

The last two Georgia-Tennessee games have been decided by three points each, including Georgia’s 34-31 overtime victory at Knoxville in 2013. And unlike South Carolina past year, Georgia has a great defense. As matter of fact, I know I’m on the right track. “Anything can happen, and we had that mindset all day….” He did exactly what we expect him to do and what his job is, which is make a play. He after was carted away yet was seated on the sideline for part of the 2nd half. Ten games later, Jones’ Vols added the third largest come-from-behind win in Vol history to the record books. We are going to increase our time with God and continue watching him work.

“It gives us confidence as a team”, Kerbyson said.

-Joshua Dobbs, Tennessee, threw for 312 yards, ran for 118 more and accounted for five TDs as the Vols erased a 21-point deficit in a 38-31 victory over No. 19 Georgia. In true Vol fashion, that lead disappeared just seven seconds into the fourth quarter when Greyson Lambert connected with Reggie Davis for a 48-yard touchdown. They’ll have to rely on Sony Michel to be the lead back with Chubb out indefinitely and Marshall to support the rushing attack that is without Chubb.

If quarterback Josh Dobbs keeps making game winning plays, the Vols can beat any team left on the schedule. They started the game without a regular starter (Brett Kendrick) and lost two starters during the game (Mack Crowder and Jashon Robertson). I don’t want to give too much information because I don’t know for sure.

Considering that UT had made only two first downs in its previous two possessions, Jones could have chosen to punt in an attempt to minimize the damage, perhaps hoping the Vols could regain their balance during halftime.
