Georgia officer fatally shot, suspect remains on the loose
A gunman who shot a police officer dead is still on the loose in the US.

A manhunt is underway in central Georgia on Sunday after an Eastman police officer was fatally shot while responding to a 911 call, authorities said.
Whitley said Smith was responding to a suspicious person call when he encountered the suspect, exited his patrol vehicle and was shot.
Details of the shooting, which was thought to have happened about 9:30 p.m., were not immediately available.
While on patrol, Smith encountered the subject and exited his auto. It lies about 55 miles southeast of Macon. “Officer Smith returned gunfire and the individual fled the scene”.
The investigation is “a very fluid situation”, officials told the Telegraph.

Eastman, the county seat of Dodge County, has about 5,500 residents. Officer Smith went to the intersection of Smith St. and Main St.in Eastman, where investigators say noticed a person in the area.
