Georgia’s Mark Richt provides response to being linked to open Miami coaching

Plantation-American Heritage product Sony Michel is Chubb’s fill-in, but Michel had never received more than 10 carries in a college game before this season. He ran for 145 yards in a loss at Tennessee the previous week. He said having an off week after the Missouri game has helped.

Playing Florida will present a great enough challenge, Richt said. It held three practices last week, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Coach Mark Richt said Michel “looked very good” Monday. Richt on facing his fifth Florida coach: “Most of them have whupped me, so I don’t know if that means a whole lot”.

Chubb was instant offense for Georgia before suffering the knee injury on the first play against Tennessee. The Gators haven’t even exceeded 418 rushing yards over its past four games, combining for 377 yards on the ground in that time. He said “anybody is replaceable”. He again had only one incompletion in limited time against Southern the following week. Richt said sophomore receiver Isaiah McKenzie (hamstring) is Georgia’s injured player closest to playing and that it’s “not a slam dunk” that senior outside linebacker Jordan Jenkins (hip) would play.

“At this point football is football”, Mitchell said.

“I have to be a better running back, and this week everyone will see I will be a lot better running back than I was in the past game”, Florida running back Kelvin Taylor said. It’s just a little past halfway.

His overall numbers are solid.

But since we’ve got weeks, and maybe longer, to speculate about Al Golden’s replacement, it is good to go ahead and address Richt’s potential candidacy for the job. “I do not think much of it. I really like my alma mater”. “I can’t wait. I have a great big chip on my shoulder and I’m just ready for Saturday”.
