Around 4 a.m., three armed men burst through the front door, surveillance video from inside the house showed.
The man in the wig died in the driveway and the woman seen here being consoled by that housemate who gently takes away the gun, lives to tell police what happened.
“She exercised her right to defend her livelihood and property”, Cpl. Deon Washington, of the Gwinnett County Police Department, said.
The woman is a local restaurant manager who was staying in a housemate’s Spring Drive home for work-related reasons.
Several minutes later, the video shows the three men scrambling from the home as the woman is firing at them with a handgun.
Police said the men were looking for cash when they met their match.
“She did not know the men and it’s clear that they weren’t invited into her home”.
The man who died in the shootout is 28-year-old Antonio Leeks of Atlanta, Ga.
“It’s not common that we receive this caliber of surveillance video showing the crime unfold, an actual home invasion”, Washington tells WSB-TV.
