During the daytime talk show The Ellen Degeneres Show, Degeneres showed one of the woman’s real estate signs in a segment called What’s wrong with these ads…and these signs?
“Prior to the Defendent’s misdeeds, Ms Pierce has been called only by her name “Titi”, which as grammar dictates, is pronounced “TEE TEE”.
Ms Pierce is seeking damages and a permanent stop on the segment being aired. “Folks need to think twice before they smear a person on national television”.
Pierce’s lawsuit is filed against Warner Brothers Entertainment, parent company of the DeGeneres show.
Pierce, 35, works as an electronics engineer at Robins Air Force Base while also selling real estate for a local Coldwell Banker office.
The name Titi originates in Nigeria and means “flower” according to the lawsuit – just in case you were wondering.
A Georgia woman is suing Ellen DeGeneres after mispronouncing her name to make a breast joke during her daytime talk show.
Pierce didn’t see the show’s initial airing but received calls while driving to the funeral in Tampa, during the wake and at the funeral.
She and her husband have also faced ridicule at home in Warner Robins, Ga., the suit claims. She said that even though she contacted the show, they still aired the segment a second time. We love you Titi and are proud to have you in the CBRF Family.
