Gerard Houllier: Klopp was always a Liverpool fan

The Liverpool boss has publicly played down talk of splashing the cash next month – re-iterating his belief in the squad he inherited.

“We have courage and confidence”.

Can pulls off the skill with flying colours which is more than can be said about head coach Jurgen Klopp who completely fluffs it.

The Liverpool goalkeeper has attracted criticism for several errors this season but Jürgen Klopp has consistently backed the Belgium worldwide, even blaming himself for West Bromwich Albion’s opening goal at Anfield on Sunday, and insisted he has no plans to move for a new No1 in January.

But once the initial rush had subsided the 26-year-old blew a kiss to the skies and raised both arms in tribute. “I’m happy at Liverpool and I want to stay here for a long time”. And throughout the 90 minutes they had just the two efforts on target, which typically came from them piling in on our six yard box at set pieces, which we fell for.

“I thought we were going to drag ourselves over the line for the victor”. Even though we went 2-1 down we kept going to the end and that is what you have to do in football.

However, the Swedish defender did manage to get his name on the scoresheet when he glanced home Brunt’s 73rd-minute corner with a deft header but the Reds were able to find an equaliser deep into injury-time.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has described West Brom’s performance against Liverpool on Sunday as “anti-football”.

“We need to make sure we defend set-plays much better”, he added. “We need to work on it and improve because it’s cost us”.

The German would have been forgiven for lamenting another costly result and two more dropped points.

The Reds were close to falling to a fifth Premier League defeat of the season but Divock Origi’s deflected late equaliser earned a point.

“He’s still very young – you don’t realise how young he is sometimes!”

“They showed no desire whatsoever to come out and play”.

“I said to Simon at half-time that if somebody says it was your fault, it is not true”, Klopp began, as per the Express.
