German police detain alleged IS member
Germany, Europe’s economic powerhouse and the destination for more than 1.3 million migrants in the a year ago, is on high alert after two attacks claimed by Islamic State that left several injured and the two attackers dead.

A suspected member of the Islamic State (IS) has been arrested provisionally in the western German state of Rheinland-Pfalz, APA reports quoting German media. It does not further elaborate on the threat.
A German special police unit has detained an allegedly high-ranking member of the extremist Islamic State group in the southwestern town of Mutterstadt.
Local media, Bild, reported that the State Office of Criminal Investigation was now involved in investigations.
“There are indications that something is being planned for the start of the Bundesliga season”, a interior ministry spokesman for the region told AFP.
The newspaper, in its online edition, said that the man had been arrested during a routine police stop.

The man had been picked up by a special task force (SEC), German authorities said to have tracked him down after receiving information from a prisoner in nearby North Rhine-Westphalia.
