Soldiers shot and killed the driver of a auto who tried to run them over in one attack during an Israeli arrest raid in the Qalandia refugee camp, the army said.

RAMALLAH, West Bank Israeli security forces shot dead two Palestinians who tried to ram them with their cars in the West Bank on Wednesday, Israeli forces and Palestinian medical sources said.
The group says Israeli troops fired at some Palestinian assailants even after they were wounded and no longer posed a threat.

In a statement, the Israeli army alleged that the two Palestinian assailants had attempted to ram their vehicle into a group of Israeli troops, injuring three of the latter.
Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld dismissed B’Tselem’s accusations.
Four Palestinians were wounded in addition to the two who were killed at the Qalandiya refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, located near a checkpoint at the entrance to Jerusalem, the Palestinian health ministry said.
The current round of violence erupted over tensions around a sensitive holy site in Jerusalem, sacred to both Jews and Muslims, and quickly escalated and spread.
The head of the Roman Catholic Church in the Holy Land called Wednesday in his Christmas message for Israel and the Palestinians to halt a wave of deadly violence while denouncing extremist attacks worldwide.
“Yesterday, it was Lebanon, France, Russia, the United States; but war has been raging for years in Iraq and Syria”, he said.

Also Wednesday, a Jerusalem municipal committee advanced plans to build 891 housing units in Gilo, a Jewish area of east Jerusalem that Israel considers an integral part of Jerusalem but that the worldwide community considers an illegal settlement. “Enough!
