Sane has signed a five-year deal which will keep him at the Premier League club until at least 2021, City said.

Sane informed the German club last week he wanted to leave to push through a transfer to City, after talks between the clubs stalled because they couldn’t agree on the valuation of the player. Despite only playing 11 minutes during the competition, Sane is viewed as one of Germany’s brightest prospects, and Low spoke glowingly of the young winger before the start of the tournament: “Leroy has an wonderful ability to exploit open spaces”.

Sane, who can play anywhere across the front line, says Guardiola “convinced me to come here and that I can continue to progress”.

The winger is one of the most highly-rated young players in Europe and was part of Germany’s Euro 2016 squad.

“I am glad it has all finally worked out for the best”.

The club confirmed on Monday that the Germany worldwide had not joined the squad in Austria and had instead flown to England.

Guardiola said: “He is a special talent and an exciting player that I think our supporters will enjoy watching”.

“He has great technical ability, is comfortable on the ball and there is much to admire about the way he plays football”. He also has a very positive attitude and will fit in well.

Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, Spain forward Nolito and Ukraine attacking midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko are the other main signings since Guardiola took over as coach in June.
