Germany hotel evacuated following bomb threat

A bomb scare at a hotel in an upscale block of the French capital Paris has forced the evacuation of Germany’s national football team, the hotel’s spokeswoman confirmed Friday.

Police with sniffer dogs went on site to check for potential explosives and a security perimeter has been established around the hotel. “The hotel has been widely cordoned off and evacuated”, the former worldwide striker confirmed.

Goal.com quotes him saying: “There was a bomb threat”.

The team have reportedly been moved to a sports complex near to the tennis venue Roland Garros, where their preparations for tonight’s worldwide friendly will continue.

The team has since been able to return to the hotel. It is thought up 250 people are staying in the chic hotel.

Germany play France at the Stade de France this evening in an worldwide friendly match.
