Police found a hand-painted ISIS flag in his room and a letter he appeared to have written to his father which officials said read: “And now pray for me that I can get revenge on these non-believers, pray for me that I go to heaven”.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the Monday night train attack.

“There are hints that he – in a text – writes about the lives of Muslims, but also that Muslims must take action on their own and resist now”, Herrmann said.

In the clip, which the jihadist group’s news agency, Amaq, released on Tuesday, Riyad calls himself as a soldier of the caliphate while brandishing a knife.

Authorities have said a 15-year-old girl who attacked a police officer in a Hanover train station, stabbing him in the neck with a kitchen knife, was inspired by Islamic State internet propaganda.

“Two of the Hong Kong residents have sustained serious injuries”.

Kenneth Tong with the Senior Immigration Office Hong Kong Residents Unit says the victims were injured in the head and abdomen respectively.

The attack was aborted when the train was brought to an emergency halt and the terrorist fled the scene, attacking a woman who was walking her dog nearby.

The teenage assailant shouted “Allahu Ackbar” as he swung his ax through the train vehicle, according to witnesses, injuring five people before he was shot to death by a police officer stationed nearby.

The elder daughter of the Yau family told local media that her parents tried to defend her sister’s boyfriend when the axe-wielding teenager went for him.

The mayor of Wuerzburg condemned the attack.

In the video, the suspect urges others to commit attacks.

The Bavarian state criminal office said the attacker was not previously known to police or on any watch lists. However, around 20 people were injured in the attack, four more seriously than the rest, and many others onboard the train had to be treated for shock.

The attack appeared to be the first time IS had claimed an attack in Germany.

The young man, whose identity is protected by law, arrived in Germany a year ago as an unaccompanied refugee.

According to dpa, the attacker was interning at a bakery and had good chances of getting into a job training program.

Germany welcomed about one million migrants in 2015, many fleeing war in Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq.

In May, a man in Grafing allegedly shouted “Allahu akbar” while attacking four people with a knife, killing one of them.

Investigators also revealed how one of the teen’s closest friends had recently died in Afghanistan and it is thought this may have been a spark which started the violence.
