Gestede to prove ‘nightmare’ for defenders, feels Sherwood

Aston Villa has four draws and one win in their last five games.

Siya sources have confirmed that that Bafana Bafana striker will be heading back to South Africa for the funeral. Bournemouth did not have much Premier League experience.

It did take Villa a while to get going, and Sherwood explained this saying “we had a slow start,” which was put down to their game strategy of “trying to nulify them [Bournemouth] and quieten down the carnival atmosphere.”

The three clear chances of the first half fell to Bournemouth who finished the first period strongly.

After a first half where Villa were lucky to go in level, Sherwood’s men improved in the second half and Idrissa Gueye had his shot well-saved by Artur Boruc after a surging run from Gabriel Agbonlahor. It wasn’t vintage and they will get punished by most other teams in the league if they play like that for the remainder of the campaign.

Gestede, 26, may still be getting up to speed after his £6million move from Blackburn and started on the bench at Bournemouth.

Unfortunately for the club who have come within touching distance of going out of business twice within the past decade, it summed up their first-ever Premier League match.

Talking more about his specific strengths again, Sherwood went on to say that he felt he’d be a “nightmare” for defenders this year. “It’s up to us to try and create them chances for him now because he’ll be a handful for everyone”.

Elphick said: “It was such a disappointment to concede from a set play that we work on tirelessly and against a player we know so well from playing against him in the Championship. He gives us another dimension”.

Bournemouth had their moments in the opening 45 minutes and might have gone into the break in front but for their finishing.

The eagerly awaited Premier League bow finally arrived today – Bournemouth arriving to fountains of fire and pumping music at a packed Dean Court.

The same could be said for Manchester United, Villa’s next opponents, who, too, recorded a 1-0 win but were far from their best.

“We will always score – since I have been at the club there have not been many games when we have not scored. We’ve signed a lot of new players, and lost some very important players to our team”.

When the wait for a seat at the top table has lasted for such a long time, there is always a danger of spilling a glass of red wine over one’s expensive white shirt in a self-conscious panic when a space finally becomes available.
