Get behind Clinton, Sanders urges supporters

Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman suggested Tuesday that Russia might be attempting to interfere with the US presidential election, leaning into the relationship that he believes Republican nominee Donald Trump has with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The platform was ratified at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) which kicked off on Monday. The speech was at times raw and personal, and it electrified the arena.

“I think it’s pretty clear and without a question that he is saying that Hillary’s the candidate and that we need to do everything we can do to elect her”, the Sanders delegate said.

Mikulski, the longest-serving woman in Congress, and Lewis, a major civil rights leader, have both broken down political barriers, and they are set to make history again as they help Clinton become the first female nominee of a major political party.

But – in a thinly veiled jab at Trump – she also painted a picture of a family that along the way struggled with the shrill tone of today’s zero-sum politics.

In an interview with left-leaning website Democracy Now, she says she wants to see what Clinton’s plans for are on issues such as fracking and the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

“We’re like a bridge over troubled water”, he said, and they went on to introduce singer Paul Simon. “We know pretty well now that the attacks came from” Russian Federation, he said.

“Bernie Sanders is the first political candidate that I have ever personally connected with”, she said. Unlike some Sanders supporters, DeLacey said he’s prepared to back Clinton in the fall – though his nominating vote at the convention will still go to Bernie.

Sanders supporters – still fuming over the leaked DNC emails – unloaded on party officials in the opening hours of the convention. “We have to get that across somehow”. “Once we’re over the emotion, our goal is to beat Donald Trump”. In short, the Clintonites will have to tolerate another evening of sharing the stage with Bernie.

Sanders sent text messages to his delegate supporters ahead of Monday night’s speeches urging them not to protest on the convention floor.

But that appeared to have minimal impact.

Much hinges on his third effort later Monday, when he addresses the convention directly in a primetime speech.

Rusty Pearce, a Sanders delegate from Las Cruces, told me the Sanders contingent from New Mexico is upset about emails by Democratic National Committee staffers that seemed to reinforce the notion that DNC staffers worked to marginalize Sanders’ surprisingly potent campaign.

Wikileaks released emails last week that suggested the DNC was biased against Mr Sanders when he ran against Mrs Clinton in the hard-fought primary contest.

It’s true that Trump doesn’t support the federal minimum wage. He’s an incredible class act who never even referred to the scandal when the eyes of the world were upon him.

“But, as a result of this disclosure Debbie Wasserman Schultz was forced to resign”. Bernie Sanders of Vermont did expose divisions between the Democratic Party’s more moderate and more progressive factions, and between older and younger voters.

“Not only did Bernie wake us up, he made us understand what is possible and what we deserve”.

“A ham sandwich could beat Trump and she’s not going to beat him. If she’s nominated, people are going to end up with somebody bad for president”.

Kerry told reporters Tuesday he brought the matter up with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a meeting in Laos and explained that the FBI was investigating.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, who also spoke, attacked Mr Trump’s business record.

Warren told the convention that Trump wants an “America of fear and hate”, according to prepared remarks.

Longoria, a Latina from a small town in south Texas, said she is ninth-generation American from a place once owned by Mexico. Some Democratic delegates agreed it was time to come together.
