Get in on Google’s Chromecast ‘Preview Program’ for early access to updates
All of the previews are expected to be close-to-final to give you an idea of what to expect.

The Preview Program is available for all Chromecast versions, i.e. Chromecast (1st-gen), Chromecast (2nd-gen), and Chromecast Audio.
“Is this a Beta program?”
The Chromecast Preview Program is a user opt-in channel that updates your Chromecast device with the latest version of Chromecast’s firmware before it is made broadly available. This new program is similar to Google’s Android Beta program and will allow users to test unreleased software and features.
According to the message received, Google will email you as soon as the Preview firmware is ready for download onto a Chromecast. To get going, launch the Android or iOS app and tap Devices. If anything of significance pops up we’ll let you know.
If you’re interested, open up the Google Cast app and get started today!
You’ll find it under the Device settings of any Chromecast connected to your app.
There’s not much to the program right now; Google doesn’t actually offer any new features to test out, but with the program now live, it’s likely users will have the opportunity to preview something of significance soon.

In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menu. Once you are successfully enrolled, you will receive an email from Google confirming your registration and filling you in on the details of the program. The preview program aims to be more stable and definitive than what you would normally expect from officially released software, Google is just giving early adopters the chance to hunt down any obscure bugs directly before release. Go to settings, then navigate to Notifications and turn on “Preview email”.
