IPhone 5s costs now begins at Rs 24,999 as compared to Rs 44,500 in the month of September.

With this cut, the Indian price of iPhone 5S has become one of the lowest globally, and this is despite the fact that rupee is depreciating and import taxes are rising, making India one of the markets where Apple products are priced highest.

Aiming to target to rising mid-level segment which is now occupied by Motorola, Xiaomi and OnePlus, Apple slashed the prices of iPhone 5s to build its market in this portfolio.

In October i.e. during Dussehra, the firm reduced the price of iPhone 5s for the first time in India, and for the second time before Diwali in November.

As per a senior administrative with a leading retail chain, “iPhone 6s and 6s Plus sales has again dampened after a brief period of pick up during Diwali, which prompted Apple to successively bring down price of iPhone 5s”.

With iOS 10 next year, Apple might totally stop software updates to iPhone 5s in order to push iPhone 6 which would be two years old at that time. Digital Trends reports that KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the Cupertino-based company is planning to launch a 4-inch iPhone known as the iPhone 6c. “Although the price point isn’t too far away from the iPhone 6S’s hefty price tag, Kuo’s prediction would be in line with iPhone 5C pricing”, the report noted. The smartphone is powered by Apple’s custom A7 chip and features M7 coprocessor for motion sensing. The device comes equipped with an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flashlight and it can record 720p HD movie in 120fps.
