Use breaking news alerts to take you to the live moment when and where breaking news happens. Not only can viewers search by market using an interactive map, they can look for content that appeals to their interests by browse by news category.
The app also lets you save your favorite stations for easy access later, and share content directly or post it on Facebook or Twitter.
Now there’s another way to watch Action 2 News when you’re on the go, with the NewsON app for iOS, Android and Roku devices.
Various companies are attempting to solve this problem in diverse ways, whether that’s news brands offering standalone news apps they built in-house; news brands partnering with streaming services, like VICE did with HBO; subscription services like Dish’s Sling TV bringing live cable TV news to customers; startups offering their own video aggregators that work on mobile, like Haystack TV or Watchup; DVR makers that record over-the-air programming captured by antennas, like TiVo; and so on. While watching, you can skip to the segments that you care about most – like business, sports, weather, or traffic. Online represented just 4 percent of total local-broadcast TV advertising revenue a year ago, according to advertising and marketing research firm BIA/Kelsey. In addition, viewers can access and contribute to real-time tweets about local news, adding their perspective to the community of viewers and increasing the spread of local information.
“NewsOn expands the reach and relevance of local broadcast news, and delivers a uniquely valuable experience for viewers”, said Louis Gump, CEO of NewsOn in a press release. By 11 a.m. ET November 3, it will also be available on the Roku platform for Roku players and Roku TVs.

But other than the optional social media feeds, the focus will be exclusively on video from local TV stations, with live feeds, on demand newscasts when a live feed isn’t airing, clips and other content. NewsON is available for Apple iPhone and iPad, Android phone and tablet, and Roku devices, and offers a free, ad-supported app which features instant access to broadcast quality video.
