Republican Ted Cruz and Democrat Bernie Sanders scored important victories in the Wisconsin Presidential Primary Tuesday night.

“Hillary Clinton herself just unleashed the first part of the new “disqualify him, defeat him and then they can unify the party later” strategy we told you about”, Sanders campaign manager Jeff Weaver told his supporters.
On the Democratic side, Wisconsin adds to a recent spate of wins by the Sanders campaign, giving the Vermont senator a boost before key races in NY and Pennsylvania. While all 28 of the state’s delegates go to the national convention as free agents, 10 said in interviews that they were committed to Cruz. Among voters 18 to 29 years old in the poll, 40 pecent said they supported Cruz and 34 percent said they supported Trump. Sanders is favoured to win Wyoming’s Democratic caucuses on Saturday, but it offers a small delegate prize.
Not only did he win the primary and trim Donald Trump’s delegate lead by 30, but he also gained momentum going into New York’s primary in two weeks. Sanders would still face a hard task overtaking Clinton as the nominating contest, but Cruz’s double-digit win over Trump was seen as a breakthrough for Republican Party forces battling to block him. Clinton’s chances for the primary are at 80% while Sanders’ are at 20%.
Fourteen percent of those polled said they are “more proud” that Trump is a New Yorker, compared with 13 percent who said “more embarrassed”.
Donald J. Trump withstood the onslaught of the establishment yet again. “What an incredible victory tonight”, Cruz said in his victory speech in Milwaukee, joined by Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, a former rival who had endorsed him.
Complicating the primary landscape for both Cruz and Trump is the continuing candidacy of John Kasich.
“Ted Cruz is worse than a puppet – he is a Trojan horse, being used by the party bosses attempting to steal the nomination”, his campaign office said in a statement. “And she has been saying lately that she thinks that I am “not qualified” to be president”.
A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday showed Sanders within striking distance of Clinton in the Keystone State, garnering 44% support to her 50%. GOP candidates need 1,237 delegates nomination. Freakish comments about abortion last week and this loss could finally stop Trump, but with his native NY up next, his campaign is upping the ante.
